thirty & flirty & feminine...

Sharing another 30th Birthday card this week! I made this for my dear friend who has been living in Japan for the last year - although I'm a little sad that we won't get to celebrate together we did treat ourselves to a special high tea at Bistro Guillaume as an early celebration before she moved abroad, it was so delightful and definitely in my top two fave high tea experiences!!

I decided on a blue (her fave colour!) and gold theme for this card and paired some gorgeous gold fan wrapping paper for the background with a lovely art deco image cut with a stitched oval - I added some gold flowers around the edge (LF Spring Sprig) and gold embossed the "30".
I'm really happy with how this extra feminine card turned out and I hope it makes her smile on her special day!

origami dresses

Way way back when I first started crafting and making cards my most favourite technique was origami, I especially loved origami dresses - these were probably the first thing that caught my eye on Pinterest many moons ago and possibly why I love paper crafting so much now! I have a great collection of pretty patterned papers that are perfect for origami and I love just sitting in front of my favourite tv shows and folding away - I find it really quite relaxing!
Once I started making these sweet little dresses I just couldn't get enough!  I love creating mini ones and for the most part I use them for generic cards and gift tags, you know when you need a quick thank you or just because card? These are perfect to have on hand and are so so easy! Here is my go-to tutorial but you can find other simple ones on YouTube!

I made a couple this week to enter into the "Feminine" Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

...I made this 30th Birthday card for a friend (it's the year of the 30ths AHHH!!) - I went with a pretty image of vintage gals having high tea and decided on a pink and gold theme because I have so many lovely pattered papers that I really wanted to use! I also added my fave go to LF Spring Sprig and gold embossed the "30" - I'm so happy with how it all came together in the end! Perfect for this weeks "Past Times" Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

Black & Gold...

Sharing this black and gold themed Birthday card that I made for my Aunt this week - I embossed the ME Scripty Bday sentiment in gold onto some white cardstock die cut with a stitched oval. I added some LF Spring Sprigs around the edge of the oval and adhered with foam tape to some gorgeous gold fan wrapping paper atop some black cardstock!
For the flowers I used a combination of random matte, shiny and glittery golds, including washi tapes, cardstock and even an old Ferrero Rocher box! (the things we crafters save!)

King for a Day

My family and I loooove playing cards - when we all get together our card sessions can go well into the wee hours! When I was recently gifted this King of Hearts stamp I knew that I definitely wanted to use it on some Birthday cards for a couple of my uncles - I really struggle with ideas for masculine cards so this was really perfect and so simple!

I stamped three Kings and quickly coloured in with red, backed with foam tape and mounted onto a layer of white on top of some striped patterned paper - easy!

I've also made basically a duplicate of this but without the white layer (comparing the two I think it needs the white to make the Kings pop, but we live and we learn!) - I've posted it on my Flickr so that I can enter it to the link up as well!

Happy weekend!

...I made this quick and simple card with this pretty champagne & treats image - To liven it up a bit I cut the image out using a stitched oval die, added some butterflies and mounted it onto a textured card with foam tape for extra dimension. Recycled Cards

I have a giant box filled with old cards that I've received over the years - gorgeous greeting cards with wonderful images and patterns, embellishments and even cardstock - to me, as a cardmaker, it seems such a waste to just throw them out so I keep them in the hopes of recycling them, cutting them up and using them to create more cards to give away.

So in the spirit of this weeks Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge, where we were asked to  "Recycle Something", I've dug out some of these saved cards and have worked my magic to create new ones!

This is an Art Deco themed birthday card that I made for my Grandmother who is turning 85 in a few weeks! This image is so classic and feminine, I knew that I had to save it for a super special occasion! I hope my Gran likes it!

For this card:
Art Deco image found in my saved cards stash, cut using the largest Lawn Fawn outside in stitched scalloped rectangle die.
Pretty pink shimmer paper found on the inside of another saved card.
Flowers cut from some lovely recycled soft gold and pale pink envelopes, using the Lawn Fawn Spring Sprigg and Sizzix Flower & Leaf dies.
Thickers foam numbers (only item that wasn't recycled!!)

I think I did well with the recycling challenge - it's amazing what we accumulate over the years!!

Stocking Fillers!

How old is too old to get a Christmas Stocking filled with presents??

The Little Cat Agenda stamp has been on my wishlist for ages and I was lucky enough to get the set in my Stocking for Christmas!! (Thanks mum & dad he he!)

This weeks Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge was to "Use Something New" so it was a great excuse to try these cuties out - I've made a few Birthday cards with them already this week which I'll be posting on Flickr - these little cats are just so darn adorable!

Also in my stocking was the Scripty Bday set (!!!) plus my bestie gave me some gorgeous frame dies so I've had a lot of fun this week trying out all my new goodies!

Do you still get a stocking filled with presents? xx
